Had a very welcome but an unexpected relative in town and needed to be able to spontaneously find gluten-free lunch and was excited for that. Could share GF pizza and have salads as well as we enjoyed a walking tour of American Tobacco area.
I love Mellow Mushroom, but the location where I live is kind of lame. So when I'm out of town, I always try the local 'Shroom. As expected, this one had good pizza, good salad, good service and funky vibe. We went back twice!
Solid 5 stars here for sure. To be honest I am generally not a big fan of chain restaurants and tend to explore more unique locations. This particular venue is definitely outstanding and here is why: There were 11 of us who just strolled in around lunch time on a beautiful Thursday afternoon. They pulled tables together, smiled and sat us within 3 minutes. Drink orders were quickly taken and quickly delivered. Lunch orders were taken, I ordered the House Special pizza and requested no onions and to add jalapenos, they said no problem. Everyone's order came out quickly and within 3 minutes of each other, they were all correct including my no onions add jalapenos pizza. Drinks were continuously topped off and we were asked if we needed anything and that if everything was okay. Everyone loved their food, my was piled high with goodies and more than I could eat! (They provided a to-go box for those needing them). They are located right next to the Durham Bulls ball field and pardon the pun but they "Hit it out of the park". Please give them a try! 13/10 for sure
My first time here and the pizza is good. Obviously as a New Yorker, I can't say it's the best but I have nothing to complain about. I got the Holy Shiitake Pie and thought it was delicious. Service was good.
Ryan our server was amazing. We had a large group of 12 and he did amazing. The food was yummy. Was a wonderful night to fellowship with our group of Ladies before going to see The Thorn. Highly recommend!!!
4/16/2023 early dinner before the Durham Bulls game: food was delicious; service from Leo was great-spot on! Would definitely eat here again. We ate outside under the large awning.
Last night, I had the pleasure of dining with 10 amazing ladies before heading out to see the production of The Thorn! Our waiter, Ryan, was simply phenomenal! He was thorough, accurate, and brought such a wonderful personality to our dining experience. Managing 11 guests is no small feat, but Ryan handled it with such promptness and grace! His exceptional customer service truly made our evening special. If you’re looking for a great place to eat with fantastic service, I highly recommend Mellow Mushroom in Durham.
